Portobello Italian Kitchen aims to deliver a relaxed and intimate dining experience. Situated on George's historic Meade Street, the restaurant's cantina style social setting is ideal for casual gatherings, family dining and celebration meals.
Our newly renovated dining room hosts many secluded nooks and crannies, ideal for special occasions. Portobello's laid-back decor features rustic flooring, wood-burning stoves, wicker lampshades, ceramic tiles, and simple wooden seating. We have an outdoor seating area for alfresco dining, beneath the gracious oak trees, with views of the Outeniqua Mountains.
We welcome digital nomads and working professionals, you need to eat too! We aim to feed you heaps of pasta while your charge your device. Many of the tables are fitted with cell phone and laptop charging stations and we offer fast free WiFi. Portobello Italian Kitchen features a floor to ceiling recreation of the iconic Portobello Road street art mural of Irish novelist, playwright, and poet Samuel Beckett. It reminds us of what Chef Jermey Gibbs discovered in London many years ago; “Dance first, think later. It's the natural order.”
